Remembering those buried at Mountain Meadows -- 150 years

ENTERPRISE, Utah -- Prayers, presentations, music and a 21-gun salute are
part of the commemorations marking the 150th year of the reburial of
Mountain Meadows Massacre victims near Enterprise, Utah, on Friday and
Saturday, May 29 and 30.
Brevet Maj. James H. Carleton and his troops undertook the task of reburying the bones in May 1859.
On Friday, May 29, Mountain Meadows Monument Foundation members will camp at the siege site, and the commemoration starts at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 30. Later that evening, the Mountain Meadows Association will have its annual meeting at the St. George Holiday Inn. Dinner is $25 at 6 p.m., with speakers to follow at 6:45 p.m., including historian and author Will Bagley, LDS assistant church historian and author Richard E. Turley Jr. and Church historian Elder Marlin K. Jensen. For reservations to either the dinner or to hear the speakers, contact Terry Fancher at 617-774-9041 or at tnf49@aol.com
