LDS Church receives service award in Kentucky
Friday, Nov. 13, 2009
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints received an
award for contributing to a community effort to prepare the Crispus Attucks
High School building in Hopkinsville, Ky., for renovation. More than 300 Mormons
from the surrounding area helped remove more than 240 cubic yards of debris.
Plans for the building, according to a community Web site, are to house various programs including a business incubator, childcare center, library and other social programs.
A reader-submitted article in the Clarksville, Tenn. newspaper "The Leaf-Chronicle," explained that the service was in conjunction with the Mormon Church's annual Day of Service event.
