The New York City tri-state area stake presidents and area institutes are hosting a three-day Young Single Adult conference this month titled "Taking the Shield."

Taking place Sept. 11-13, the conference will feature spiritual encouragement and socializing. Friday evening will include music, prayers and reflections by local leaders, including former New York, NY, Stake President Brent J. Belnap. Elder Matthew Eyring of the Seventy, his wife, Amy, and Elder Gary L. Crittenden, also of the Seventy, will speak Saturday. A dance and barbecue will follow on Roosevelt Island. Sunday's events include a combined Sacrament meeting, lunch, and testimony meeting, concluding with a church-wide CES Fireside broadcast address of Elaine S. Dalton, Young Women general president.

Most of the events take place at the Lincoln Square Building at 125 Columbus Ave., in Manhattan. The conference is free to those who register prior to Sept. 7, and costs $5 at the door for those who don't.
