"It's a new year, become a new you!" or "Lose those holiday pounds today!"

There's something about each New Year year that promotes keeping fit and advertises weight loss. And the blogs are heavy with weight-loss goals, diet reports, and even invitations to join weight-loss blog groups. So jump off the Bloggernacle Back Bench today and let's start running through these posts!

First off, Skinny Habits is dedicated to promoting skinny thoughts, meals, snacks, sweets, tools and more. This blogger chronicles how she hopes to become healthy and skinny and lists exactly what she eats each day. Plus she talks about her weight loss ups and downs. Check it out for recipes and more! Similarly, this blogger exclaims "I'm Sick of my Chub" and lays out her plan for her 2009 diet.

Did you know that blogs are a great place to start a weight-loss group? For instance, this poster asks, "Anybody want to get in on a weight loss competition?" Blogs pull people together, so contact a few friends and chronicle your weight-loss goals and experiences.

In "Seldom Discussed Principles of Marriage," marriage is likened to losing weight because working at marriage and continually working on a healthy lifestyle are both continuous and lifelong. Cool!

Or maybe instead of losing weight, you want to focus on looking better. This blogger explores the question "Losing Weight and Looking Slimmer, What's the Difference?" She explains that changing your wardrobe to accentuate you features can make a big difference. Check out more of her advice on slimming down without losing weight.

Or maybe instead of diets, this is more "What the World Needs." Enjoy!

Now let's find other weighty posts from this week in the Bloggernacle:

Power pick: "Does it hurt when you shove your tongue so far into your cheek?" asks one poster in response to the complicated but amusing "The TRUTH about the Book of Mormon pronouncing guide EXPOSED." Definitely the result of having too much time on his hands, it's a delightful romp through some of the lesser-known places and names found in scriptures such as Shimnilom and Giah. Nicely, it includes a plethora of links to the scriptural references. And who knows, maybe you'll even learn something.

Forgotten gem: Veering far off the subject of weight loss, let's go back to Feb. 19, 2007, for the perfect recipe for "Fry Sauce." The Mormon Foodie provides the recipe. "This is so simple it hurts: 1 part catsup to 2 parts mayonnaise." But he doesn't stop there; he also gives a history of the famous Utah fry goop. He posts fry-sauce taste-testing results and offers advice on fry-sauce variations. Mmm! Sounds good!

Techie tip: Maybe managing your weight wasn't one of your New Year's goals, but perhaps "Managing Technology" was. This post is full of great advice on "organizing and controlling information overload," including tips for prioritizing your time, subscribing to only the best, limiting distractions, using readers and more. It's a must read for anyone struggling with too much information from technology!
