Washington D.C. Temple set to reopen

Temple President Earl C. Tingey says the water problems have been resolved and the Washington D.C. Temple in Kensington, Md., is set to reopen on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
The temple had been closed due to a water main break discovered Oct. 14, an incoming main line that was found to be leaking.
When it was shut off, that left the temple without water, functional restrooms and heat.
President Tingey said Friday the main is fixed and the temple again has water. The boilers will next be heated up and tested.
"Then we'll be operational again on Tuesday, we hope," he said.
The closure forced a rescheduling of nearly a dozen weddings and "quite a number of personal endowments" that were on the docket, President Tingey said. Most of the plans were rescheduled so nobody missed any deadlines, he added.
"It's working out really, really well," he said.
For questions and information call the temple at 301-588-0650 or e-mail the temple offices at washi-office@ldschurch.org.
