FamilySearch continued its unending expansion by adding 30 million more family-history records to its free Record Search Pilot Web site.
Some of the records added were indexed records that are easily searchable by keywords. Other records added are just the digital images of original records -- viewable, but not yet computer indexed.
The type of records FamilySearch added range from U.S. census records to Spanish church records from 1530. They include:
1850 United States census: FamilySearch added 1,830,275 indexed records from Georgia, Mississippi and Virginia. It also added 1,157,705 indexed "slave" records and 39,325 indexed "mortality" records.
1860 U.S. census: FamilySearch added 20,112,346 indexed records. This is for all states, with partial records for Alabama and Pennsylvania.
1870 U.S. census: FamilySearch added 6,866,230 indexed records from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.
1865 Massachusetts census: FamilySearch added 15,434 digital image records from the City of Boston.
1855 Buenos Aires, Argentina, census: FamilySearch added 7,630 digital image records.
1889-2006 Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, civil registration: FamilySearch added 1,657,420 digital image records.
1650-1900 Czech Republic (Opava) church books: FamilySearch added 18,800 digital image records.
Louisiana War of 1812 pensions lists: FamilySearch added 149 digital image records.
1833-1935 St Petersburg, Russia, Lutheran Church: FamilySearch added 128,317 digital image records.
1530-1930 Ciudad (Spain) Real Catholic Diocese: FamilySearch added 689,338 digital image records.
1861-1867 Vermont enrolled militia records: FamilySearch added 598 digital image records.
The entire collection can be searched for free at pilot.familysearch.org or through the Search Records feature at FamilySearch.org.
Volunteers interested in helping to index these and other records can learn more online at FamilySearchIndexing.org. FamilySearch is a nonprofit service sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
