Compassion for church's enemies?
With our enemies at the gates and the wolf at the door, he asked the Saints last Sunday to extend "the hand that helps and the heart that knows compassion."
He did the same at LDS general conference a couple of weeks ago. The royal priesthood had assembled and was ready to roll. He told them to "leave unsaid the harsh and hurtful things we may be tempted to say."
We were ready to sing "Vanquish every foe today!"
Instead, we got "School thy feelings."
Can't the president of the church see what's happening?
Is he being shielded from reality?
Someone has to let him know.
The God of Israel is under siege. The gods of debauchery and desire have ascended to the throne.
Taxes are taking a tremendous toll.
The government is becoming our enemy.
Our traditional values are getting washed away by paganism.
Our "promised land" is on the brink of losing its promise.
Yet into the fray comes a leader telling us to "train thy warm, impulsive soul."
A hundred generations ago, another nation came to a crossroads.
Its enemies, too, were at the gates and the wolf was at their door.
True believers were ready to unsheathe their swords and take to the streets.
Then a leader emerged to take charge.
"Turn the other cheek," he said, "do good those who abuse you."
Couldn't he see what was happening?
The God of Israel was under siege. The gods of debauchery and desire had ascended to the throne.
Taxes were taking a tremendous toll.
The government was the enemy.
Traditional values were getting washed away by paganism.
Their "promised land" was on the brink of losing its promise.
And their Savior was telling them to "have a compassionate heart?"
In 2,000 years, our religious leaders apparently haven't learned a thing.
They still preach love and understanding in a world that is out to destroy us.
They don't see what's at risk.
They make pleas for compassion.
It's sad.
When are our leaders going to get with the program?
